CVP Modernizing SEVIS Information Sharing at ICE
Fairfax, VA – November 01, 2016 – CVP is leading the effort to modernize the post-9/11 global initiative focused on data exchange services for the Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) at US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This modernization effort marks the first major update of the system that enables student visitor data to flow securely across the federal government and an estimated 9500 of partner organizations in the country and around the world.
SEVIS helps nation’s schools, universities and training program sponsors share data before, during, and after a student or exchange visitor’s stay. With ICE, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of State, and other federal agencies will use the service—it must handle diverse legacy systems, data formats, and transfer protocols. Seasonal surges in school applications require an architecture that can quickly scale to meet peak demand.
On a four-year contract awarded in May, CVP has created an information sharing module based on open standards. MuleSoft’s Anypoint Platform is the core of SEVIS’s new information architecture and services. It performs the functions of protocol conversion, message modification, routing, logging, and acting as a security gateway, among others. This will enable uniformity of the client and data interfaces, providing more control and management for ICE.
CVP will also work with SEVIS data partners so existing services continue to work until their switch to the new platform.
“This project for DHS represents a major step forward in Federal modernization,” said Anirudh Kulkarni, CEO of CVP. “It also represents CVP’s commitment to transformation through innovation that impacts diverse stakeholder groups through multiple solutions.”
