CVP Tapped by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) Models

    Fairfax, VA – November 3, 2016 – The CMS Innovation Center has selected CVP to help identify, test, and apply strategies that target fraud, waste and abuse (FWA), and noncompliance in its health care demonstrations and innovation models. Under the four year contract entitled “Methods and Analytics for Compliance Support of CMMI Model”, CVP will field teams that analyze market research and data from service delivery and payment models. CVP’s experts will then develop standardized approaches for monitoring compliance and vulnerabilities and provide recommendations to prevent risks from scaling into the permanent programs.

    “We are thrilled to play our bit in helping CMS test new models of care while protecting the US taxpayer from fraud and waste,” said CVP CEO Anirudh Kulkarni. “Combining healthcare domain expertise with deep experience in data analysis, CVP and our teammates will work closely with our CMS partners to reduce FWA in these new innovation models”.

    Innovation models offer the promise of improved performance. However, these models may not fit standard preventive and corrective measures for potential FWA. The Innovation Center sets up teams of domain experts to verify that the trials meet CMS regulations and best practices.

    CVP teams will generate evaluation reports and recommendations for the seven major model categories. Identifying payment, usage, and billing patterns may point to FWA, vulnerabilities, or noncompliance. Recommendations will help CMS develop procedures for its Fraud Prevention Program.
