Managing Tenfold Growth - Organization, Volunteers, and the Benefit of WebEducational Services Organization ChallengeYou have an aggressive growth plan. Do you have the best tools and processes in place to manage it? Customer Value Partners (CVP) developed just this sort of strategy for a Washington, DC-based educational services organization. The client, who is focused on developing early literacy skills in Title I schools in Washington DC and other metropolitan areas across the nation, needed to support management's aggressive growth plans envisioning a tenfold growth in students served and volunteers recruited and managed over a three year period. CVP was brought in to oversee the development of operations and technology functions that would allow the organization to scale without adding headcount. Approach and ResultsCVP built and executed a technology and operations strategy to support the client's business needs. The strategy was sensitive to the relative maturity of the organization, with many key organizational positions still needing to be filled. CVP team members acted as interim operating executives and in short order stood up systems and processes for operations management, volunteer management, fund-raising, and professional development management. Key to enabling scale was the standardization of processes and an innovative and strategic use of the Internet. In this way they were able to reach students, teacher-volunteers, and adult mentors through a variety of constituent facing Web presences, including a site with letter writing tools, mentoring tips, sample letters, and access to reference books, as well as a resource website for teachers. |
